So I am officially WAY behind in updating my blog. It’s been two full training blocks plus some change since my last post. That includes a trip to Austin for South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival and a bachelor party, with 4 days of long solo rides and 1 long run. It also meant my first 4 cycling races, all criteriums. Not to mention my first road race, in which I placed 5th out of 50! My first team time trial (TTT), which was a 2-man race with a Well-Fit Elite team training partner, where we placed 6th of 15. And finally my first 5K of the year, in which I had a MAJOR breakthrough, taking over 3 minutes off my previous PR. I’ll still get my race reports down, especially for the Leland Kermesse — a 75K road race that included long gravel sections, much like the spring classics — where I finished 5th in the Cat 5 race.
It’s one week til Galena, which is my first triathlon this year, and I couldn’t be more excited to race! I feel prepared, strong and ready to rip the 2009 version of Henry to shreds. My swim is faster, my bike is a true strength and my run continues to improve. So when you get better in all 3 disciplines of triathlon between seasons, you are usually prepared to lay down some seriously killer times relative to your past performances. I have a feeling 2010 is going to be one hell of a ride.
